Crusaders for Hope is restoring mental and physical well-being through innovative & compassionate care

Get to know us

Crusaders for Hope (CFH) is a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to closing critical gaps in mental health care—especially for military personnel and first responders. Located in Clearwater, Florida our mission is to provide access to groundbreaking treatments, like ketamine infusion therapy, regardless of financial circumstances.

Ketamine, originally approved for anesthesia in 1970, has emerged as a powerful tool in treating Treatment-Resistant Depression (TRD). Since Yale University’s groundbreaking 2000 study, numerous trials have shown that intravenous ketamine offers rapid relief—often within hours or days—with a success rate of 70–75% for those who haven’t responded to traditional treatments. Yet despite its proven effectiveness, ketamine remains off-label for psychiatric use, meaning insurance rarely covers the cost. This leaves many patients without access to potentially life-changing care.

That’s where we step in.

Crusaders for Hope ensures that finances are never a barrier to treatment. We direct donated funds toward covering the cost of ketamine infusions along with other nontraditional therapies for qualified individuals. Mental health challenges have surged globally, especially in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic. Depression remains the leading cause of disability and lost productivity worldwide, yet effective treatments are still out of reach for many.

Our Mission

As mental illness and suicide rates are escalating, Crusaders for Hope, a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit organization, is on a mission to help those that lack the financial resources, have failed traditional therapies and still suffer from some form of mental illness, pain or neurological condition leaving them struggling to exist.

Our Vision

Our vision is to provide hope and support to those facing mental illness, stress, or life challenges that traditional therapies haven’t resolved. We are dedicated to offering accessible, effective solutions—especially for military personnel, first responders, and others who may lack the financial means to access them. Our goal is to provide life-changing resources to those who feel hopeless and have struggled to find success with other treatments.

Our Inspiration

Brent Agin, MD, serves as the inspiration behind Crusaders for Hope. Located in Clearwater, Florida Dr. Agin has over 20 years of medical experience including over a decade dedicated to mental health and ketamine infusion therapy.  He is a recognized leader in the field with a holistic philosophy centered on what he calls the “5 Pillars of Health”: sleep, diet, exercise, nutrition, and hormones. By focusing on the balance of these foundational elements, Dr. Agin emphasizes their profound influence on mental well-being and the path to lasting healing.

We are driven by a powerful mission: to reach those who are unable to afford unconventional care and continue to suffer despite traditional mental health treatments. Through CFH, we strive to bring hope, healing, and meaningful change to individuals battling mental health challenges—uplifting not only their lives, but the well-being of the community as a whole.

We believe that healing should be accessible to all—especially those who serve and protect our communities

Restoring mental and physical well-being through innovative and compassionate care

“After years of dedicating my life to sports, I know I put my body through a lot. What I didn’t realize, especially in a sport like football, is the number of hits you take to the head and how much this can affect your body and brain over time.
I’m very grateful for the opportunity to play football in college and the NFL, but once that chapter ended, a new and greater challenge began, learning how to take care of myself after years of punishing my body.  What becomes clear after stepping away from the game is just how much you’ve asked of your body and mind.  Staying mentally and physically healthy becomes the next mission and requires a different level of intention and discipline.

When I began focusing on my health, I was fortunate to be introduced to functional medicine and ketamine therapy early on. Both approaches gave me a framework not just to heal and recover, but to thrive. I am feeling better than I could have expected at this point of my life.  Ketamine has had a profound impact on my mental well-being. After years of head impacts, it helped me feel clearer, more grounded, and more connected. It’s been instrumental in my transition to life after football allowing me to feel present, grateful, and engaged with my family, friends, and the opportunities ahead.”
